The Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council, Jassim Muhammad Al-Budaiwi, met with Ambassador Daffallah Al-Haj Ali, Undersecretary of the Sudanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Special Envoy of the President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council in Sudan to neighboring countries and the African Union, today, Sunday, at the headquarters of the General Secretariat in Riyadh.
Al-Budaiwi called for calm, giving priority to the national interest, and stopping all forms of military escalation, in a way that preserves the capabilities and gains of Sudan and its people. He affirmed the GCC’s keenness on Sudan’s security, safety and stability, preserving the cohesion of the state and its institutions, and supporting Sudan in facing all challenges to achieve the aspirations of its brotherly people.
He praised the humanitarian role played by Saudi Arabia and all GCC states in the current crisis in Sudan, and he also commended the efforts of the Arab League, the Quartet, and all international and regional efforts aimed at reaching consensus among political forces, ending the crisis and achieving security and stability in Sudan.
The Saudi Foreign Minister, Prince Faisal bin Farhan, received today, at the ministry’s headquarters in Riyadh, Ambassador Dafallah Al-Haj Ali.
During the reception, they discussed the current situation in Sudan, where the foreign minister affirmed the Kingdom’s call for calm, giving priority to the national interest, and stopping all forms of military escalation, in a way that preserves the capabilities and gains of Sudan and its people.
