Ilkay Gundogan, captain of Manchester City, hopes to participate with the German national team in Euro 2024, but he is looking forward first to winning the Champions League title with his English team.
Gundogan told T-Online on Tuesday: It would be an honor for me to participate in this tournament in my country.
He added: But there is still a long way to go, everyone knows that we have to develop and provide better performance and results before the tournament.
Gundogan, 32, participated in 66 matches with the German national team, but he did not participate in the two friendly matches for the machines last month, as coach Hansi Flick was keen to try some young talents, but Gundogan is expected to return during the friendly confrontations next June.
These friendly matches will be held before the Champions League final, which will be held in Istanbul on the tenth of next June, and Gundogan is looking forward to leading City to its first title in the continental championship.
The German player pointed out: Of course we want to win this title, it is our biggest dream to win the Champions League title.
Gundogan called on his colleagues not to rely on their superiority by three goals without a response to Bayern Munich in the first leg of the quarter-finals of the continental championship, and the need to appear strongly during the return match at the Allianz Arena on Wednesday to settle the pass to the golden square.
He emphasized: Only the first half has passed, we came out with a very positive result from the first leg, but we have to appear at the same level in the second leg and give our best performance again.
