Guntur: The Sarpanch Went Door To Door And Collected The Garbage.. The Locals Were Stunned

The village sarpanch collected garbage from house to house in the village. They protested that the funds due to the village were not received. It is said that there is no money to pay the salaries of sanitation workers. That is why they collected garbage from house to house.

The sarpanch of Katrapadu of Vatticherukur mandal in Guntur district went door to door and collected garbage. Driving a three-wheeled garbage collection cart provided by the government, he went around the village blowing a whistle. The locals were surprised to learn that Sarpanchi was collecting garbage. Village Sarpanch Medarametla Shankar and Panchayat Governing Body members have become sanitation workers. They expressed their protest by going door to door and collecting garbage. Shankar says that the panchayat has no financial resources and the state government has illegally taken the funds of 14 and 15 economic societies of Rs.6 lakh allocated by the center to the village.

He said that the sanitation workers are not coming to work as they are not getting their wages. The sarpanch alleged that garbage has accumulated near the houses. They said that they are fixing the old ones to the poles without money to buy the electric lamps. Shankar wants the government to recognize his protest that volunteers are doing the work that should be done by the village sarpanchs and return the funds.
