Indian all-rounder Jadeja said that he was happy to take 5 wickets in his first international match after an operation on the joint. He said this after the first day of the Nagpur Test match.
The 34-year-old Jadeja underwent surgery in September last year due to an ankle injury. In this case, he directly exerted his dominance in the first match of his return to international cricket after 5 months. By this, he has taken the Indian team to a strong position in this tournament. That too he threatened the wickets of Labuschagne and Smith, who are the batting captains of the opposition.
“I am happy with the way I bowled. I enjoyed playing it. It is difficult to return to the field and play Test cricket after five months. I was ready for that. I trained hard to the best of my ability at the National Cricket Academy.
After a long time I played in a Ranji match. I bowled up to 42 overs. It gave me a lot of confidence. If it is to the extent that it is the confidence to see the field directly in the international test match. There was no bounce on the Nagpur wicket. I was bowling on the stamp to stamp line.
For this I practiced bowling for 10 to 12 hours a day. It has given me a hand. I am well aware that after recovering from an injury I have to play a long spell in Test cricket. So I did it,” said Jadeja.
Australia won the toss and elected to bat in the first Test between India and Australia in Nagpur. The team scored 177 runs and was all out. On the Indian side, Jadeja took 5 wickets and Ashwin 3 wickets. Following this, at the end of the first day’s play, the Indian team scored 77 runs for the loss of one wicket. Captain Rohit Sharma is in the field with 56 runs. KL Rahul scored 20 runs and got out. The Indian team has dominated both batting and bowling on the first day.
