The 10th edition of the Nad Al Sheba Sports Tournament concluded its competitions with the “Al Jawarih” team winning the volleyball championship title, after defeating “Zael” in the final match, which brought them together the day before yesterday evening.
The Nad Al Sheba Tournament took place over 19 days, including eight different games: padel, volleyball, jiu-jitsu, bow and arrow, fencing, wheelchair basketball, bicycle racing, and running.
More than 5,000 male and female athletes of different nationalities and ages participated in the tournament, competing for financial prizes amounting to three million dirhams, in addition to one million dirhams that were allocated to the public.
The crowning of the “raptors” came at the expense of the “Zabeel” team, after defeating it by three runs without a response, 25-17, 25-18 and 25-16, respectively, so that the “raptors” team succeeded in compensating for its loss of the title in the last version against the “Emperor”.
After the plane final, the Secretary-General of the Dubai Sports Council and Chairman of the Supreme Organizing Committee for the session, Saeed Hareb, and the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Sports Games Sector in the Al-Ahly Youth Club, Lieutenant General Muhammad Ahmed Al-Marri, and the Assistant Secretary-General of the Dubai Sports Council and Vice-Chairman of the Supreme Organizing Committee for the session, Nasser Aman Al Rahma, and the course director, Hassan Al Mazrouei, crowned the Raptors team with the championship cup and gold medals. The Zabeel team won the second place medal, while the Emperor team won the third place medals.
At the level of individual awards, Mohamed Abdelaziz, player of the “HMS” team, won the award for best citizen player, and the player of the raptors team, Carlos Silva, won the award for best serve, and his colleagues Javez Actavo and Gabriel da Silva won the awards for best blocking wall and best player. In the tournament, while the award for best hitter went to Zabeel player, Leonardo Matinez.
The main sponsors of the session were also honored, namely, Dubai Media Corporation, Al Tayer Motors, Dubai Duty Free, Plan B Group, and Fanft Group.
Saeed Hareb, Secretary-General of the Dubai Sports Council and Chairman of the Supreme Organizing Committee for the tournament, confirmed that the Nad Al Sheba Sports Tournament has become a platform for the best volleyball players in the world, and we expect the number of international players to increase in the tournament in the coming years, and we hope that local clubs will benefit from the tournament and from International stars, in the interest of the national volleyball team.

Saeed Hareb thanked His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council, who laid the foundation for this championship, stressing that the 10th edition of the tournament witnessed an unparalleled success with the testimony of all.

The raptors team, which won the Nad Al Sheba Aircraft title, appeared in the competitions of the Nad Al Sheba Tournament, with a squad that included the stars of the French “Poitiers” team, which ranks 10th in the French League competitions, and advanced to the semi-finals of the French Cup competition.
Not only did the sponsors of the raptors team use the Poitiers team to play on their behalf in the Nad Al Sheba tournament, but rather they brought their French coach, Brice Donat, who successfully led the team to obtain the title that the raptors lost last season.
Price Donat talked about his experience with his French team in the Nad Al Sheba tournament, saying: “I did not expect the strong technical level of the tournament. A rare injury to the volleyball referee in the Nad Al Sheba tournament
UAE referee Khaled Al-Taie suffered a cut in the Achilles tendon, as a result of a sudden movement to avoid the players, while he was managing volleyball matches in the Nad Al Sheba tournament, which is a medically rare occurrence for volleyball court referees, according to the treating doctors.
Dr. Muhammad Khalifa, a consultant in orthopedics and sports injuries at the Medication Hospital, said that the referee underwent a complex surgery, and it was performed with innovative modern technology, away from the traditional methods that required a wound up to 15 cm long.
Stressing that the ruling’s condition stabilized after the success of the surgery, and he left the hospital.
The Chairman of the Board of Directors and Executive Director of the Medication Health Care Group, the health sponsor of the tournament, Marwan Ibrahim Nasser, confirmed that first aid was provided to the referee at the tournament headquarters, and it was found that he had a cut in the Achilles tendon, to be transferred to the hospital immediately, and to undergo surgery to treat the cut.
