Actress Haydeé Cáceres is one of the most recognized in the country and also one of the artists who has witnessed several film failures, which is why she is very pleased that April 2024 will be marked by the success of various films, such as ‘Vaguito’ , ‘Dead or Alive’, ‘Yana-Wara’, ‘The Most Feared Skin’ and ‘Chabuca’, a film inspired by the life of Ernesto Pimentel in which she plays the actor’s grandmother.
“How beautiful, I applaud all the filmmakers because they are true heroes. And we must support national cinema, we must not trip each other up, we must be on par with the cinema of Mexico, Chile or Argentina. “Why put ourselves in so many troubles just for the sake of it?” Cáceres stated for La República. “We have A1 directors, directors to tip our hats off to, they are capable. “God has blessed me because he has put such important people in my path, from whom I am learning,” added the 74-year-old actress.
Haydeé Cáceres, who returns to the theater with ‘The Man Without Memory’, insisted that among Peruvians we should not criticize ourselves because there is an audience for everyone. “You have to do a lot of advertising too. If you don’t advertise a movie that’s going to win the Oscar, nobody goes. In that sense, the Government must support because here people get money from wherever to make their film.”
Haydeé Cáceres talks about her character in ‘Chabuca’
In the film ‘Chabuca’, the film, theater and television actress plays Mrs. Estela Arbildo, Ernesto Pimentel’s grandmother and the woman who was key in his desire to get ahead. Cáceres said, for this medium, that he did get to know the lady and remembers that she was more lisurious than what is shown in the film produced by Tondero.
“I knew the lady, but from afar, she was not my friend. (I met her) when she was already at Ernesto’s house and the lady was quite a character. What I say there (in the film) is not even a tenth of it (…), it was hilarious”stated Haydeé Cáceres, who assured that she did expect the success of ‘Chabuca’ and was also grateful for all the affection from the public.
Haydeé Cáceres supports Ernesto Pimentel
Cáceres was forceful in expressing all his solidarity with Ernesto Pimentel, who in recent days has received harsh criticism on social networks as a result of how he showed Alex Brocca in the film. “I am very indignant because they don’t know Ernesto. He is an incredible human being. I already knew his story. He has told me everything (…), since he was little he has been very responsible, very loving towards his family. All the things that have happened and how he has emerged, how he has risen up in the face of so much lack that he has had in life and has managed to be what he is now,” she said with great emotion.
The performer who, in 2021, was awarded best actress at the Sydney Science Fiction Film festival for ‘El corazón de la luna’ said that Ernesto Pimentel has helped many people behind the cameras. “People don’t know all the social work he does, he doesn’t ask for cameras. He always goes to the Children’s Hospital and not only brings them clothes and toys, but also joy, he is with them (…), it is an amazing thing. He is an incredible human being. Not because he is my friend; but, for example, to the gay community, how he helps them!
Haydeé Cáceres confirmed that she has spoken with Ernesto Pimentel and has told him not to pay attention to the questions. “There are many offenses and we know where they come from. Do I give you my support? Of course, totally… because I’ve known Ernesto since I was a child, since he started. He was such an organized boy, he has always been charitable, I have always seen him helping his colleagues, the families… because he has gone through those shortcomings, he has suffered a lot,his life has had so many obstacles; But he has known how to overcome it and get to where he is because of his goodness, because of his way of being, because God truly helps him,” he expressed.
The artist preferred not to delve into details of the relationship between Ernesto Pimentel and Alex Brocca: “People start talking about what they don’t know and criticize without seeing the film (…). Each one has their truth, only they—as a couple—have known it. There are no good or evil”.
Haydeé Cáceres supports Jorge Benavides
In addition to being a theater actress, Haydeé Cáceres has her past in comedy, when she was part of ‘La paisana Jacinta’, a character played by Jorge Benavides who does not appear on the small screens because the Judiciary issued a resolution, in 2020, which prohibits the broadcast of said television phenomenon because it supposedly encourages discrimination against rural women.
Then, Jorge Benavides announced that he is doing everything possible—legally—so that ‘La paisana Jacinta’ returns to television very soon. Given that, Haydeé Cáceres mentioned that what is happening seems unfair to her. “We already know where he’s going. They want to make news (…), it’s his creation. And the character is so intelligent that it makes people from Lima feel bad. When I get into a taxi, they tell me: ‘Oh, why not ‘La paisana Jacinta’ returns. I really liked it a lot.”
Finally, Haydeé Cáceres was nostalgic when talking about Bertha Domínguez, whom she brought to life in ‘Al Fondo Hay Sitio’. According to what she said, her character could have given more in the series. “That depends on the scriptwriters. I really enjoyed my character and, above all, that people liked to see it. Until now they call me Bertha on the street. It would have been nice for her to continue. Would you agree to return? I think so,” she concluded.
