This morning, the Egyptian security services arrested Zamalek Club and national team player, Ahmed Fattouh, after he killed a young man, who works as a police officer, by running him over with his car in the North Coast area.
This came after the authorities received a report of a traffic accident on the North Coast highway and the traffic stoppage.
According to Egyptian media, the investigation revealed that the person who caused the accident was Fattouh.
Investigations also revealed that the player was driving his car on the highway, accompanied by his friend, Zamalek and Egypt national team goalkeeper Mohamed Sobhi.
Suddenly, the steering wheel slipped out of his hand and he lost control of the car, which swerved right and left and ran over a young man, named Ahmed Al-Sayed, who happened to be passing by on the side of the road.
The authorities arrested the player and seized his car, while the young man’s body was transferred to El Alamein Hospital.
The authorities also decided to conduct a drug test for the player to determine whether he was driving while under the influence of alcohol or not.
While the Public Prosecution Office was notified and took over the investigation.
