Russian Daniil Medvedev, ranked fifth in the world, was fined today, Saturday, $76,000 due to his behavior at the Australian Open tennis tournament, where he destroyed the camera installed on the net, threw his racket, and missed the press conference after the match.
The Russian was fined $10,000 due to his collapse during the match he won over the unknown Thai Cassidit Samraj in the first round when he smashed his racket and the camera.
He faced a greater penalty of $66,000 because of his actions in the next round, when he lost to 19-year-old American Lerner Tian, who qualified through the preliminary rounds.

During that match, Medvedev threw his racket towards the sideline of the stadium, reaching an advertising board near the seat allocated to him. He also quarreled with the main referee after he was summoned due to repeated foot errors, before he missed the obligatory press conference after the match.
The 28-year-old Flushing Meadows champion, who is 28 years old, reached the final of the tournament in three of the last four editions in Melbourne, including last year when he collapsed to world number one Italian Jannik Sinner after he was ahead by two clean sets.
