In 2019, student leader Sanjeeb Talukdar was accused in the case of blasts in Assam’s capital Guwahati. After he was arrested by the police, he is under investigation in Guwahati Jail. However, he decided to continue his studies even in prison. With this, Krishna Kanta joined MA Sociology course through HandiQ State Open University. He recently wrote his final year exams and secured 71 percent marks and stood first. Governor Jagdish Mukhi presented the gold medal to Sanjeeb on Thursday. Although he originally thought of doing MPhil in Botany, he chose Sociology subject due to lack of lab facilities in jail. The NIA has registered a case against Sanjeev and three others for illegal activities in the Guwahati blasts case. After the arrest, he was kept in Guwahati Jail.
A jail official said.. Sanjeeb is very curious to learn new things. Sister Dolly said that Guwahati High Court will take up her brother’s bail petition. The High Court recently granted bail to Prakash Rajkonwar, an accused in the case. At the time of his arrest, Sanjeeb was doing his MPhil at Guwahati University, she said.
