To prevent the recurrence of the flood disaster that occurred on September 10 in the east of the country, the National Unity Government (UBH) affiliated National Meteorological Center warned citizens.
In the statement made on the subject, it was noted that heavy rains are expected to occur in the southwestern regions of the country as of Saturday evening.
From heavy rains It was stated that the city of Gat and its surroundings, Al-Jufra, Hun, Al-Fukaha, Al-Huruj, Sebha and its surroundings, Brak, Merzuk and El-Katrun cities are expected to be affected.
In the statement, it was stated that the rain would cause floods in some valleys, and those living near the valley were asked to be careful.
In its written statement, UBH Emergency Medicine and Support Center in Tripoli announced that all units and offices affiliated with the center are on alert against any extraordinary situation.
Ibrahim al-Hasnavi, one of the doctors working at Sebha Hospital, said in a statement to the AA correspondent that they were worried about a disaster similar to the one in the east of the country due to the weak infrastructure in the southern cities.
Pointing out that most of the houses in the cities in the south consist of foundationless adobe houses and that they are not able to withstand floods, Hasnavi said that the weak health infrastructure of these cities cannot cope with an extraordinary situation.
Flood disaster in Libya
“Storm Daniel”, which was effective in the Central Mediterranean and hit the east of Libya on September 10, caused floods in the cities of Benghazi, Beyda, Merc, Suse and Derna.
Prime Minister of the National Unity Government, Abdulhamid Dibeybe, declared a 3-day mourning throughout the country on September 11 due to the flood, and the Libyan Presidential Council called for help from sister countries and international institutions for the flood-damaged regions.
The World Health Organization (WHO) also announced that more than 4 thousand people died due to floods in Libya and more than 8 thousand 500 people were still missing.
