Hyderabad: Heavy rain lashed Telangana’s Hyderabad this morning. At 6.15 am due to heavy rain, the Hyderabad Municipal Corporation had warned people not to venture out unless absolutely necessary for the next two hours.
Damage to normal life: Unexpected early morning rains left most parts of Hyderabad inundated. Due to this, the traffic came to a standstill. Not only that, there was heavy traffic jam.
As of 8 am today, 14.7 cm of rain was recorded in Miyapur and 14 cm in HMT city. Serilingampally (13.8 cm), Rajendra Nagar (13.8 cm), Kutubullapur (12.1 cm), Shakepet (12 cm), Khairatabad, Malkajgiri (10.9 cm) and Secunderabad (10.7 cm) recorded 10 cm rainfall. The Indian Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for Hyderabad today after an average of 12 cm of rain fell in many places in the early morning hours.
Due to heavy rain, schools in Hyderabad, Rengareddy, Mathesal etc. have been declared holiday today.
Meanwhile, the city traffic police has pointed out that the roads are flooded due to the rain and has advised the public to travel very carefully today.
This year’s South West Monsoon rains are 36 percent less than normal, and the rains in Telangana are comforting as the monsoon season ends.
