Bruce Darnell (66) is a multi-talent: choreographer, model, catwalk trainer, TV darling. First “Germany’s Next Top Model” then “Das Supertalent” with Dieter Bohlen (69). Now he’s going to see Marcel Remus in Ibiza!
True to the line from Udo Jürgens’ classic “At the age of 66, that’s when life begins,” Bruce wants to know again, started a project in Ibiza a year and a half ago with little fanfare.
Bruce Darnell on his new job: “I’m doing interior design now. But that wasn’t something I thought about from one day to the next. More than ten years went by during the planning process, also to find the right concept. I now have three or four people working with me, I drive to the customers and talk to them about their wishes and ideas.”
He wants to bring positive energy into the house
But what qualifies the TV professional for a career as an interior designer? Bruce Darnel about his new job: “One must not forget that I also worked as a fashion stylist in Italy, I am very familiar with colours, shapes and fabrics and I chose these for designers at the time. I was also responsible for complete concepts for fashion shows, their logistics and planning. I have also lived in Paris, London and New York. It’s really a passion, and interior design has a very wide spectrum.”
Bruce continues: “It’s not about putting a bed, a couch or a table somewhere. First and foremost, it is about creating positive energy in a place, for example through the arrangement of furniture and light, so that you simply feel comfortable and secure. Since the pandemic, it has become even more important to feel free as a family and to be comfortable with friends at home.”
Celebrity luxury realtor Marcel Remus (36) heard about Darnell’s new job, is convinced of his abilities and would like to work even more closely with Darnell as an interior designer in the future. According to BILD information, Darnell is already looking for an apartment on Mallorca, also in order to be able to expand his business to the largest of the Balearic Islands in the medium term.
By the way, the Bruce style isn’t just for big wallets. “Money plays a subordinate role, I don’t just do luxury orders, I also take on smaller orders. It’s a passion and I’m flexible,” says Darnell.
Why was the former choreographer drawn to Ibiza?
About Ibiza as his feel-good place, he says: “I started making friends with Ibiza seven years ago, and now I love the island. It just makes me feel good to be there.”
Did Bruce Darnell quietly emigrate?
Bruce about his Ibiza domicile: “I didn’t emigrate completely, I’m also still in Vall (editor’s note: Netherlands). I live in a small house in Ibiza, where there is a lot to renovate, but I take the time to do it.”
Bruce Darnell says of his life in Ibiza: “It’s not luxury, it’s very modest, just a beautiful life there. Above all, I find the light on the island magical. Ibiza has a different kind of freedom, you can wear what you want and nobody says anything. It’s easy-going.”
For decades, normal people, hippies and celebrities have been equally attracted to the flair and vibe of the island, holidaying, celebrating and living in peaceful coexistence.
In these TV formats we see Bruce
Much to the delight of his fans, Bruce Darnell seems a long way from TV retirement. On the one hand, he is part of the cast of the new TV format “Der Mallorca Makler” with Marcel Remus, which started on August 15th on Vox and that can be streamed every Tuesday on rtl+ with another episode.
On the other hand, Darnell is again part of the super talent jury at RTL.
BILD also knows that Bruce is shooting another living format for a German broadcaster and will be the chief critic of a new song and dance show on Austrian TV broadcaster Puls4.
