Surrounding farmers were surprised to find a private helicopter landing in the fields. At first the frightened people reached there and sighed as those inside were safe. The incident took place on Saturday in the Satyamangalam forest area of Erode district in Tamil Nadu. A private helicopter flying from Bangalore to Kochi landed in the fields of Pavalakuttai village in the Kadambur hill area due to inclement weather. Bharat (65) from Karnataka wanted to take his wife Sheila (60) to Kochi, Kerala for treatment as she fell ill. He rented a private helicopter and left Bangalore. However, the helicopter was passing through the Kadambur hill area when it did not receive any signals due to clouds, snow and inclement weather. The pilot then landed the helicopter in a field near Jaspal. Workers there were alarmed to see the helicopter land. Arriving there, the four in the helicopter came out safely and suffocated. The helicopter was carrying Bharat, Sheila, a pilot and an engineer. Upon learning of the matter, the police rushed to the spot and examined it. Police evacuated them as a large crowd gathered around. The helicopter would have stopped there for about three hours from 10.30 am on Saturday. After the weather improved, it left and reached Kochi.
