A Saudi national smuggled a non-Muslim journalist to Mecca through a track that allowed entry only for Muslims. The US citizen was smuggled into Mecca by bypassing the entry ban for non-Muslim believers in Mecca and holy places. Makkah Police informed that this is a clear violation of the law and they have taken legal action against the Saudi citizen behind it and handed it over to public prosecution.
A police spokesman said everyone coming to Saudi Arabia is obliged to follow the country’s laws, especially those related to the ban on entry to the holy sites of Mecca and Medina. Any violation of the law in this regard shall be considered as an unforgivable offence. The authorities also warned that strong punitive measures will be taken against those caught for such violations.

A case has also been filed against an American journalist who violated the country’s laws and entered Mecca. His case has also been handed over to the Public Prosecution for further action, Makkah Police said. The charge against him is that he crossed the Muslim-only road without taking prior permission from the concerned official agencies.
