Hidma: Maoists suffered a setback. Central committee member Hidma was killed. Hidma was encountered in Telangana greyhounds operation. Hidma was killed in an operation conducted by Greyhounds and CRFF Cobra on the Telangana-Bijapur border. Hidma acted as a key Maoist strategist in several states including Chhattisgarh, Telangana and Odisha. In 1996-97, at the age of 17, he was attracted to the movement and joined the Maoists.Puvarti Hidma is a native village in Sukma district of South Bastar district of Chhattisgarh. He has nicknames like Santhosh and Hidmallu. Before joining the movement, Hidma was a farmer. Hidma, who studied till class 7, learned English from a lecturer who worked with the Maoist party. He became an expert in the manufacture and repair work of weapons. During 2001-02, Hidma was promoted to a platoon in South Bastar district.
Salvajudum’s growth caused Hidma to become more active. In 2007, Hidma played a key role in the attack on CRPF at Urpal Metta.
