In Pechenga and Liinakhamari (Murmansk region), a high alert mode was introduced due to bad weather in the Barents Sea. Small boats are prohibited from entering the water area.
The resolution on the introduction of the high alert regime was signed by the head of the Pechenga municipal district Andrey Kuznetsov. It will be valid from the morning of May 17 until 21:00 on May 19, writes B-port news agency.
According to forecasts, the speed of the western and north-western wind will reach 17-22 m/s, sometimes wet snow is possible. Wave height in the Barents Sea reaches 2.5 m.
At the exit points of the fishermen, police officers and the district administration organize patrols. They will explain to local residents the need to comply with safety requirements.
Earlier it was reported that a storm warning was announced in Crimea due to thunderstorms, increased wind and hail. Rescuers note a high probability of accidents at housing and communal services and energy facilities.
