In Rostov-on-Don, after 2023, a high-speed tram will be launched. The line will run along Vavilov Street towards the Northern residential area.
The government of the Rostov region has already allocated money for the construction of the line, regional transport minister Vladimir Okunev said. According to him, cited by RostovGazeta, the authorities first want to transform the existing tram network, and then build new tracks to remote neighborhoods.
All necessary documentation for the project must be prepared by the end of 2022. The first phase of its implementation is planned to begin in 2023.
Earlier it was reported that Rostov-on-Don became one of 13 cities participating in a five-year program for the modernization of electric transport in the regions. Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, Vladivostok, Irkutsk, Krasnoyarsk, Nizhny Novgorod, Kursk, Yaroslavl, Krasnodar, Tver, Saratov, Ufa, Perm will also participate in it. In total, the Russian government will allocate 400 billion rubles to the regions for the renewal of electric transport.
