New Delhi: Protests are on against the political web series ‘Thandav’ starring Saif Ali Khan. Amazon Prime apologized for the incident after a group of people came to the scene alleging that the film had hurt Hindu religious sentiments. Apart from Saif Ali Khan, this is a web series featuring some of Bollywood’s leading stars.

Police have registered complaints and cases in several states alleging that the film depicts Hindu deities and deities in a derogatory manner and hurts religious beliefs. Many BJP leaders and MLAs had criticized the film.

The company said in a statement on Tuesday that it regrets that some scenes in the film were “offensive” to Amazon Prime Video. The company said it would continue to develop the content and showcase the film while respecting the diverse culture and beliefs of the audience.

The Thandav controversy escalated last week when Uttar Pradesh police questioned one of Amazon’s top officials for hours. Meanwhile, senior police officials said that the investigation into the complaints lodged against the film would continue. In addition to Amazon, there have been similar complaints in the past about programs on Netflix Inc., the OTT streaming platform.
