Jorge Messi, the father and business manager of Argentine soccer world champion Lionel, confirmed on Monday his son’s desire to return to Barcelona, but indicated that no decision had been taken in this regard yet.
Messi’s father confirmed that he met Monday with Barcelona club president Joan Laporta, but nothing concrete yet, and that his son’s return depends “on many things.”
In response to a question about whether Barcelona is Messi’s favorite destination, Jorge said with a smile, “Yes,” adding, “I would very much like” that the seven-time world player of the year return to Catalonia.
Jorge Messi revealed to reporters that Lionel will make his decision soon, but “I don’t know what decision, I don’t know at the moment, we have to discuss a lot of things.”
The Argentine star, who won the World Cup with his country in the World Cup in Qatar, played his last match in the ranks of Paris Saint-Germain last Saturday, which he lost to his guest Clermont 2-3 in the local league.
Messi had moved to the ranks of the French capital team from Barcelona in 2021, after the latter failed to extend his contract due to the financial crisis he was suffering from.
Barcelona showed a great desire to restore the services of Messi, the best scorer in its history, specifically by Laporta and coach Xavi Hernandez, who played alongside him for several years, despite the financial difficulties experienced by the Catalan club.
