Doha: Qatar is happy to have won double gold at the Tokyo Olympics. Qatar celebrates Faris Ibrahim’s gold medal in high jump after winning his first Olympic gold medal in weightlifting.
Mutas Barshim, a medal hopeful in the high jump, jumped 2.37 meters to win Qatar’s second Olympic gold. Italy’s Gian Marco Tambery and Bershim shared the gold medal in the same event. Since they both jumped at the same height, they both had two options: to jump to the round of first place or to share a gold medal. But the two decided to share the medal without going to the jump off.

Burshim Qatar is also proud to have won a rare medal at all three Olympics. The Qatari won bronze at the 2012 London Olympics and silver at the 2016 Rio.
Faris Ibrahim became Qatar’s first Olympic gold medalist in weightlifting at the Tokyo Olympics. Farris set an Olympic record in the 96 kg weight category. Faris lifted a total of 402 kg in the competition.
