Tamil Nadu. There was an explosion in a firecracker factory in Sattur area of Virudhunagar district in Tamil Nadu. The Fire and Rescue Department official has given this information. Further investigation is ongoing. According to the information received, so far 6 bodies have been recovered from the factory and the rescue operation is going on.
Earlier, 14 people had died in two incidents of fire in firecracker factories in Virudhunagar district of Tamil Nadu. The first incident was from Rangapalayam area. Police had said that this accident happened during sample testing of firecrackers. 13 people including 12 women were killed in this incident. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin had announced an assistance amount of Rs 3 lakh for the families of the deceased and Rs 1 lakh for the seriously injured.
Police, fire and rescue service personnel and local people were working together to extinguish the fire and save the victims. The police also checked whether the factories (firecracker factories) had a valid license or not. Police had said that seven burnt bodies were found from the incident site of the firecracker factory in Rangapalayam and they have not been identified yet.
A day earlier, an LPG tanker had met with an accident in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. After this, gas started leaking from the tanker. The rescue team has reached the spot. The incident took place at Uppilipalayam flyover in Coimbatore. The tanker was coming from Kochi to Coimbatore. After this accident the entire area was cordoned off.
