Abu Dhabi, the world capital of jiu-jitsu, is preparing to host the elite jiu-jitsu stars from around the world in the Abu Dhabi Grand Slam Jiu-Jitsu Tour competitions, which kick off tomorrow at the Mubadala Arena in Zayed Sports City and continue until May 12.
The Abu Dhabi Grand Slam Tour, which is organized by the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation and falls under the umbrella of the Abu Dhabi Association of Jiu-Jitsu Professionals (AJP), is considered the largest tour in terms of the number of participants compared to the past four rounds in Rio de Janeiro, Miami, Tokyo and Rome, as it witnesses the participation of 2,500 male and female players from all countries of the world.
The first day of competition was allocated to the junior and youth categories, the second day to the masters category, and the third day to the professional category, and valuable rewards were allocated to the first-place finishers in each of the participating categories.
Mohammed Salem Al Dhaheri, Vice President of the Emirates Jiu-Jitsu Federation, said: The Abu Dhabi Grand Slam rounds are of great importance, as they tour the most prominent cities and capitals of the world with their five rounds, and give male and female players the opportunity to interact with elite athletes from all over the world, as well as the possibility of raising their rankings with the Abu Dhabi Professional Jiu-Jitsu Association. Tariq Al-Bahri, Director General of the Abu Dhabi Professional Jiu-Jitsu Association, said that the Abu Dhabi Grand Slam Championship is characterized by the distinguished levels of participants, and its importance is increasing as it awards the first-place winner in each category 3,000 points in the annual classification system approved by the Abu Dhabi Professional Jiu-Jitsu Association, 2,400 for the second-place winner, and 1,800 points.
