At least six people have died in Florida and Georgia due to Hurricane Debby. The storm is expected to remain on the southeastern and mid-Atlantic coasts for several days. According to reports, this storm can cause more than two feet of rain and it can cause devastating floods. Debby hit Florida’s Big Bend on Monday (August 5) morning as a category one storm, after which it is expected to slowly move northeast.

Debby has already caused more than 20 inches of rain. This caused flooding in southwest Florida. Due to the storm, more than three lakh consumers in Florida lost power. However, Debby’s havoc is still continuing. US President Joe Biden has declared an emergency in Georgia. He has ordered federal aid to help state and local response efforts due to emergency situations.
Governors of all three states have declared an emergency due to Debby. The Miami-based center said that heavy rains could cause flooding in parts of the mid-Atlantic by Sunday. The National Weather Service said that Savannah and Valdosta in Georgia have received more than 8 inches of rain.
