There are dozens of challans and fines in the thousands of rupees on most vehicles across the city of Hyderabad. In this order many escape from the traffic police and roam. The Telangana government has announced a special offer on the occasion of ‘Dussehra festival’ to check this situation. Violation of traffic rules allowed those who did not receive the e-chalana to pay. Provides facility to pay with 50% discount on pending invoices.
The Hyderabad Traffic Police said in a statement that the challans could be paid through a ‘special Lok Adalat’ to be held at Goshamahal Stadium from October 4 to 7. And to what extent the police statement will be successful … we have to wait and see how many people will take advantage of it.
Traffic police are whipping those who break the rules. Violations don’t stop there though. Despite giving counseling and imposing heavy challans, they continue to arbitrarily violate the rules. This year (January to June) saw the highest number of violations in six months compared to six months last year. Locked down last year in the wake of Corona. Similarly this year too the lockdown continued with restrictions for a few days.
This year, the city traffic police have imposed a large number of challans on those who roam the roads without a driving license. From January to June this year, 27,45,574 people violated traffic rules, the highest number of 25,43,897 without helmets. While there are 35,201 people who do not have a driving license, there are 1338 minors.
