New York: The first conference of people affected by terrorism around the world was held at the UN yesterday. Mumbai Taj Hotel employee Karambir Gang’s moving speech demanding justice has started resounding in every corner of the world.
On November 26, 2008, 10 terrorists attacked Mumbai. They attacked 10 different places like Mumbai Chhatrapati Shivaji Railway Station, Nariman House, Taj Hotel. More than 100 people died in this. In this case, a conference was held at the UN on Friday that included people affected by terrorism around the world. Karambir Gang, General Manager, Taj Hotel, Mumbai, attended and addressed the event.
From what he said: That day the entire world saw the terrorist attack on my country and on the Mumbai Taj Hotel where I worked. I was the general manager of that hotel then. There was an attack for three days, day and night. 34 lives were lost. That includes my wife and two sons. They got stuck in the hotel. They could not escape. I lost everything in that attack. We lost many of our employees.
All the terrorists involved in the attack have been punished. But those who planned the attack, those who planned the attack, those who financed it, those who coordinated the whole plan are free. Mumbai Taj Hotel staff bravely rescued some guests. We got international accolades for it. But we did not get justice for 14 years. We are in pain. Today I am going to this UN. I stand in the arena and make a request to the international community.
We repaired a hotel that was totally damaged in a terrorist attack in just 21 days. We fought terrorism. I request the international countries to work together to establish justice. He said that all UN member states should work together to ensure that there is no safe place for terrorists in this world.
