Sports Desk. ICC has imposed a one-year ban on the USA National Cricket League (NCL). ICC took strict action against the league for violating many rules including playing-11. According to a report, in a letter written to USA Cricket, ICC has given the reason for not following the rules related to playing eleven.
Also, USA Cricket has suffered a major setback due to giving a chance to 6-7 foreign players in the playing eleven and violating the sanction rules known to the NCL officials before the event. In a letter written to USA Cricket, the ICC informed of its decision not to sanction the league for future editions.
The ICC letter cites non-compliance with playing XI rules, including fielding seven USAC affiliated or associated players and a breach of sanctions rules made known to NCL officials prior to the event. Apart from this, drop pitches were used during the National Cricket League, the condition of which was poor. Players like Wahab Riaz and Tymal Mills had to bowl spin on these pitches.
Let us tell you that NCL tried to generate interest in the cricket world by making legends like Wasim Akram, Vivian Richards as its brand ambassador. It created a stir by including Sachin Tendulkar and Sunil Gavaskar in the ownership group. Despite the presence of these stars, it failed to address the operational inefficiencies that had plagued the league since its inception.
