Kanpur. The Green Park stadium, which witnessed India’s record Test win, is under threat of a one-year ban. Recently, the outfield of the stadium was included in the unsatisfactory rating by the ICC. Due to this he has been given one demerit point. Now UPCA will have to fill the shortcomings of the outfield as soon as possible.
According to the information, the ICC team can inspect the stadium and see the outfield in January. If satisfactory conditions are not found, he may have to face a ban of one year for international matches at Green Park. In the India and Bangladesh Test match at the Green Park Stadium from September 27 to October 1, the outfield was damaged due to rain. This had an impact on the game.
However, even in the rain-affected match, India played in a record style and won. In the report released by ICC last week for the India and Bangladesh match, the outfield was placed in the unsatisfactory category. For this, ICC has issued one demerit point to Green Park. In such a situation, the outfield here will have to be improved soon. The report will be corrected only when the situation improves during the inspection by the ICC team in January. If improvement is not found, the stadium may be banned for one year, meaning international level matches will not be held here.
However, after the Test match itself, UPCA has planned to give a new look to the Green Park at the AGM and install a drainage system in the entire stadium. UPCA team will soon repair it. UPCA Media Committee Chairman Dr. Sanjay Kapoor said that the Green Park stadium will be rejuvenated soon. Talks have been held with many companies including Chennai, Lucknow for installing the state-of-the-art drainage system here.
