The active phase of ice drift on the Lena River takes place in the Lensky region of Yakutia. Ice breaking in the Yakutsk region is expected from May 16 to 18.
At the moment, the lower edge of the ice drift is observed in the area of the settlement of Batamay, the upper – 35 km above the city of Lensk. The water level in the river is 808 cm, writes news agency SakhaNews. The mark of 1410 cm is considered critical.
Over the past day, the ice drift has advanced 65 km. The situation is monitored by four groups of the regional department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, which include 44 people and 14 pieces of equipment.
On the Nyue River, the length of the ice drift is 142 km, and it has advanced 162 km in a day. On the Olekma River, slight fluctuations in the water level were observed during the day, the daily rise was 10-30 cm. Until May 14, the opening of the river is expected in the Dzhikimda-Kudu-Kyuel section.
An increase in the water level is observed throughout the Aldan River and its tributaries with an intensity of 5–35 cm per day. The opening of the river in the section Swan Tit – Tommot is expected on May 14-16.
Ice drift on the Vilyui River near the settlement of Suntar began on May 11, which is three days earlier than normal. The water level in the river was 446 cm. Within three days, ice shifts are expected in the Suntarsky and Verkhnevilyuisky districts.
