Argentina’s Messi has said he would have liked to receive the World Cup from Maradona if he were alive. Messi shared this in a radio show.
Messi and Maradona are known as the legends of the football world. Both have won the World Cup for Argentina. In this case, Messi has said this.
Maradona passed away in November 2020. He played 91 international matches for Argentina between 1977 and 1994. With that the total number of goals he scored for his country was 34.
“If Maradona were alive I would have loved to have the World Cup in his hands. If that didn’t happen, at least he would have seen the scene. He and many other people who love me are the driving force behind everything I do from heaven.
I shouldn’t have done that against the Netherlands. I don’t like it either. I don’t like what happened after that either. But it happened at that moment. Everything happened so fast in that tense moment. There is no plan in this,” said Messi.
Earlier, Argentina and Netherlands played in the World Cup series held in Qatar. Argentina team won the match in penalty shoot out. Before this match, the coach of the Netherlands team had said that his teammates were more prepared for the penalty shootout than the opposition. With that in mind, after winning the match, he made a joke with a gesture towards the coach of the Netherlands team. That’s what Messi remembers now. Also, after the match, he approached the Netherlands coach and made some finger gestures. Messi was very aggressive on the field then.
Don’t miss out!
