Dubai: Gulf Giants won the first season of the DP World ILT20 League. The team won the final against Desert Vipers by 7 wickets. Chris Lynn and Shimron Hedmire were brilliant in batting for the Gulf Giants in the final.
Gulf Giants won the toss and elected to bowl in this match held at the Dubai Stadium. Desert Vipers scored 146 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in 20 overs. Hazaranga scored 55 runs off 27 balls. Billings scored 31 off 29 balls.
Gulf Giants chased down the target of 147 runs. Opener Chris Lynn scored 72 runs off 50 balls and remained unbeaten till the end. Erasmus scored 30 and Hedmire scored 25 off 13 balls.
DP World ILT20: Six teams participated in the first season namely Abu Dhabi Knight Riders, Dubai Capitals, MI Emirates, Sharjah Warriors, Gulf Giants and Desert Vipers. IPL teams like Kolkata, Delhi, Mumbai bought teams in it. The first season consisted of round robin and play-offs. Gulf Giants won the championship.
