Imam Ashour, the midfielder of the first football team of the Egyptian Al-Ahly club, apologized to all members of the club system after his objection to not participating in the match at Abidjan Stadium in the first round of the third group competitions of the African Champions League.
Ashour said on his Instagram account today, Friday: “First of all, all respect and appreciation to my colleagues and the entire team system, from the big to the small, and I apologize for any mistake that angered anyone.”
He added: “I accept the punishment, and this is normal, because the difference between Al-Ahly and any other place is very large.” He said: “My relationship with the club and its fans is not affected by anything.”
He explained: “I am proud of Al-Ahly and very grateful for the support and backing of Al-Ahly fans.”
He stressed: “The greatest audience in the universe, and God willing, my ambitions and dreams will come true here in Al-Ahly.”
Al-Ahly had officially announced the imposition of a financial penalty of one million pounds due to Ashour’s objection to not participating in the match at Abidjan Stadium in the first round of the third group competitions of the African Champions League.
