PakistanThe ex-husband of Imran Khan’s third wife Bushra Bibi was attacked by a lawyer of the former prime minister outside an Islamabad court when he appeared for the hearing of the couple’s appeal against their conviction in an un-Islamic marriage case.
Let us tell you that on February 3, 71-year-old Imran Khan and 49-year-old Bushra Bibi were sentenced to seven years in jail by the trial court for marrying during Iddat. Iddat is the mandatory period in Islam for a woman to wait before remarrying after the death or divorce of her husband.
It is known that Bushra Bibi’s ex-husband Khawar Maneka filed a case against the couple in November 2023, alleging that they married without Bushra observing the mandatory waiting period of Iddat. He demanded the court to declare the marriage invalid. While hearing the appeal filed by Bushra Bibi and her husband (Imran Khan) against the conviction in the case, Islamabad District and Sessions Judge Shahrukh Arjumand went to his chamber without passing the verdict.
Following this incident, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) lawyers threw bottles in the courtroom, following which Khawar’s lawyers took him out. However, while being taken out, a PTI lawyer attacked Khawar inside the court premises, causing him to fall to the ground.
