In Belgorod, on May 9, celebrations for Victory Day will not be held for security reasons. This was announced yesterday by the mayor of the city Valentin Demidov.
“We see what events have been taking place in the border areas in recent days. I’m sure you will agree with me – it’s not worth the risk, ”he said in a post on his Telegram channel.
According to the mayor, the planned celebrations will be held “when the situation permits”, but for now only the laying of flowers at the monuments of the Great Patriotic War and the congratulation of veterans will take place.
In addition, the governor of the Belgorod region, Vyacheslav Gladkov, said that the Armed Forces of Ukraine (APU) attacked the Valuysky urban district, in particular, a missile was shot down over the city of Valuyki by an air defense system.
According to the available information, some damage was recorded, but there were no reports of casualties. Operational services and employees of administrations continue to survey the territories.
Earlier that day, Gladkov said that five people were injured during the shelling of the city of Shebekino, Belgorod Region, by Ukrainian militants.
