The former commander of the Polish Ground Forces, Colonel General in the reserve, Waldemar Skrzypczak, recognized the inevitable victory of Russia in the conflict in Ukraine and, against this background, called for the mobilization of Ukrainian refugees. On this topic, he spoke on January 16 in an interview with the Polish online publication wPolityce.
“Russia will achieve its goal, it is increasing its advantage. ‹…› The West is not able to help Ukraine enough to create a military potential superior to the Russian one,” Skzhipchak said.
Even 100 tanks supplied by the West to Kyiv will not be able to change the situation, the Russian troops have a multiple advantage over the Ukrainian army, he pointed out.
Meanwhile, the colonel-general called on the West to stop arming Ukraine with the “drip method.” In his opinion, assistance to Kyiv should already have a “completely different character.”
“Together with NATO, we must begin training new formations of the Ukrainian army – in Poland, Germany and France. To train those citizens of Ukraine who are there. It is necessary to mobilize, train and send them to the front, because it is becoming increasingly difficult for Ukraine, ”Skrzypchak said.
He recalled that in France in the early 40s of the last century, Warsaw created an army of emigrants and those who fled the country after the “September defeat”. These events in Poland are called the “September campaign”, when on September 1, 1939, Nazi Germany invaded the country and defeated the Polish army, and subsequently occupied the territory of the western part of Poland. The size of the created army was then about 80 thousand people. According to Skrzypczak, it is possible to repeat the events of the past in Poland with the Ukrainians.
“Why not build such Ukrainian troops in Poland and send them to the front? <...> It is necessary to mobilize, conscript into the army and that’s all, ”he concluded.
Earlier Wednesday, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that Russia’s victory in the conflict in Ukraine is inevitable.
On January 13, Russia’s permanent representative to the UN, Vasily Nebenzya, pointed out Russia’s readiness to complete the special operation if its goals are achieved through negotiations. Otherwise, he said, the tasks would be carried out by military means.
On January 6, retired US Marine Corps intelligence officer Scott Ritter said that Kyiv could begin to suffer defeat before the West supplies it with new weapons. He explained this by the complicated and long process of transferring Western weapons to Kyiv.
Russia’s special operation to protect Donbass, whose residents refused to recognize the results of the 2014 coup d’état in Ukraine, continues. The decision to hold it was made against the backdrop of the aggravated situation in the region due to increased shelling by Ukrainian troops.
