The Ministry of Education, the Russian Academy of Education and the Prosveshchenie publishing house have begun checking the English language textbook Spotlight for the sixth grade, which allegedly contains a link to a porn site, TASS reported on Monday, September 13, citing the press services of these departments and organizations.
According to the publishing house, the textbook has repeatedly passed state and non-state expertise. At the moment, it has been decided to suspend the distribution of the printed version of the manual, corrections have already been made to the electronic format, the manuals are available via previously purchased links.
In addition, an appeal was initiated to Roskomnadzor with a request to block the resource indicated in the illustration, writes Gazeta.ru.
The Ministry of Education will check the publication and revise the expert opinions on it. The link to a pornographic resource could have occurred for technical reasons. The textbook will be withdrawn, and the detailed results of the check and the conclusion of the scientific and methodological council will be published later.
“The federal list of textbooks is the most transparent system for assessing the quality of textbooks, multilevel, passing through several expert filters. At present, all expert opinions on the textbook are being revised, and it will be withdrawn, ”the Ministry of Education said.
The decision to check the textbook was also made at the Russian Academy of Education. They said that the reprint had not been reviewed by the Russian Authors’ Society (RAO). The organization recalled that this procedure should be as objective as possible and requires scientific, professional and public assessment.
In May, it became known that half of the history programs tested by the Ministry of Education in Russian educational institutions did not fully reflect the events of the Great Patriotic War.
