A 28-year-old resident of the Arkhangelsk region will appear before a court in Saratov on charges of participating in a criminal community, which is suspected of defrauding more than 70 pensioners for a total amount of more than 5 million rubles. This was reported in the press service of the prosecutor’s office of the Saratov region on November 3.
“According to the investigation, in the period from November 25, 2019 to May 14, 2021, a member of the criminal community, under the pretext of providing legal assistance, misled the residents of the Arkhangelsk region. He gave them false information that for a certain amount he could help increase pension payments, receive monetary compensation for emergency housing, and on other issues, ”the publication says.
Law enforcers noted that the defendant did not actually intend to provide legal services and “could not achieve the promised results by virtue of the law.”
It is specified that the complex structure of the units of the criminal community consisted of 8 people, they worked on the territory of various subjects. The so-called leaders were located in the Saratov region, and all the money obtained by criminal means also entered the region.
A pre-trial agreement on cooperation has been concluded with the accused, and the investigation of the criminal case continues with respect to other members of the criminal community.
On October 4, police officers in the Moscow region detained a woman who stole more than 1 million rubles from a pensioner during the rite of “corruption removal”. So, the “healer” collected the bills, performed the ceremony, then wrapped them in a napkin and put them in the bedroom, asking the pensioner not to open the bundle until the morning.
