In Saudi Arabia, 69,500 expatriate house drivers lost their jobs in three months

Riyadh: 69,500 expatriate house drivers have lost their jobs in three months in Saudi Arabia. About half of the 32.9 lakh domestic workers currently employed in the country are house drivers. As of the end of the third quarter of this year, there were a total of 17.5 lakh house drivers in the country.

A total of more than 69,500 house drivers lost their jobs in three months, compared to the second quarter. Of the current 1.5 million house drivers, a total of 145 are women.

Of the domestic workers, 25,241 are watchmen and 2,488 are house managers. 12 of the watchmen and 1100 of the house managers are women.

The Saudi Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development has announced that the insurance will apply to domestic worker recruitment contracts from next year. The plan was prepared in collaboration with the Central Bank. The system is designed to link contracts with insurance policies through an online platform for domestic worker recruitment.

Meanwhile, services between India and Saudi Arabia are coming under the Air Bubble agreement. The Ministry of Civil Aviation has announced that air services will resume from January 1. The Ministry of Civil Aviation has directed the Director General of Civil Aviation to inform the airlines about this.

The decision came as a relief to the expatriates. There are currently chartered flights between India and Saudi Arabia. India has postponed the resumption of normal international flights due to the Kovid crisis. In this case, the expatriate’s demand for an air bubble deal with Saudi Arabia is paying off.

Under the new Air Bubble agreement, airlines will now be able to operate flights between the two countries in compliance with Covid regulations. Airlines must comply with Covid regulations.

On December 8, India and Saudi Arabia held talks on an air bubble deal. Accordingly, the Ministry of Civil Aviation has submitted the revised Air Bubble Terms to the General Authority for Civil Aviation in Saudi Arabia. The air bubble deal starts on January 1, with Saudi Arabia agreeing to these terms.
