The 20th edition of the International Film Festival in Marrakesh kicked off on Friday, in the presence of many Moroccan and foreign artists.
The organizers of this session decided to cancel all forms of celebrations, especially the red carpet and free shows that the festival was holding in the famous “Jemaa el-Fna” Square, in solidarity with Gaza.
The opening ceremony witnessed the honoring of Danish actor Mads Mikkelsen, who won the Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival as best actor. Mikkelsen expressed his joy at this honor and said that he dedicates it to everyone he worked with throughout his artistic career. The festival is also expected to honor the Moroccan actor Faouzi Bensaidi in this session.
The American film “Hired Killer”, directed by Richard Linklater, was also screened as part of the festival’s opening activities. It is expected that 75 films from 36 countries will be shown in this session.
