A new stage of the 100 Ponds and Lakes program has begun in the Moscow Region, within the framework of which work is being carried out to clean up water bodies. This was reported on June 13 on the website of the regional government.
The department noted that the program is being implemented at the initiative of the regional Ministry of Ecology. The choice of water bodies for inclusion in the program is made by the residents themselves by voting on the Dobrodel portal, the Moscow City News Agency notes.
This program is popular among the population of the region. In 2020, about 10 thousand people took part in the voting, in 2021 – more than 70 thousand. This year, 59 objects were selected for cleaning, the 360 TV channel notes.
Such work has already begun in the Chernogolovsky and Kupavinsky ponds in the Bogorodsky district. As the Minister of Ecology and Nature Management of the region Tikhon Firsov said, four special amphibians purchased last year were brought to the facilities. Clearing of other water bodies will also begin in the near future.
According to Firsov, 48 water bodies were cleared under the program last year, and some of them received additional landscaping. During the work, specialists eliminated about 100 illegal spillways. Also, about 10 tons of garbage were collected and sent for recycling. In the beach areas, dead trees that pose a danger to vacationers were removed, writes RIAMO.
On June 6, the scientific director of the Hydrometeorological Center of Russia, Roman Vilfand, told when the swimming season will begin in Moscow. According to the expert, the water in the reservoirs should warm up to a comfortable temperature for swimming. He noted that children can swim in the pond if the water temperature there is at least 22 degrees. Adults can swim if the water is above 20 degrees.
