Mumbai: Team India won the first ODI against Australia with KL Rahul and Jadeja by 5 wickets.
The Australian team, which is touring India, is playing Test and ODI matches. India won the Test series against Australia by 2-1. The first ODI was played in Mumbai today. Indian captain Pandya won the toss and chose to bowl. Accordingly, Mitchell Mars and Travis Head started the Australian team. But it didn’t get off to a great start.
Travis Head (5) was dismissed by Muhammad Siraj in the first over. Steven Smith, who came into the field next, raised the score for the team with Mitchell Mars. Hardik Pandya separated and dismissed this partnership which lasted till 12 overs.
Mitchell, who played a consistent game, was dismissed for 81, Smith out for 22. At the end of 20 overs, the Australian team had lost 3 wickets and added 129 runs. However, as none of the players who came after that came to bat, Australia collapsed for 188 runs at the end of 35.4 overs when the wickets fell flat.
On the Indian side, Muhammad Shami and Siraj took 3 wickets each, Ravindra Jadeja took 2 wickets, Hardik Pandya and Kuldeep Yadav took one wicket each.
Ishan Kishan – Subman Gill started the Indian team with a target of 189 runs. Ishan Kishan got out for 3 runs, Kohli took 1 more run than him and walked for 4 runs. Indian team lost 3 wickets in 6 overs. Suryakumar left without scoring any runs, while Subman Gill returned to the pavilion after adding 20 runs. With none of these players giving hope, India lost 4 wickets in 11 overs and scored 43 runs.
KL Rahul and Hardik Pandya, who stepped in to put an end to all this misery, scattered the Australian bowling. At one stage, Hardik got out with 25 runs and Jadeja formed a partnership with KL Rahul who played the responsibility and reached the target in 39.5 overs. KL Rahul was in the field with 75 runs and Jadeja with 45 runs.
With this, the Indian team defeated Australia by 5 wickets and took a 1-0 lead in the ODI series. Mitchell took 3 wickets and Marcus Stoinis took 2 wickets for Australia.
