New Delhi. The continuously increasing cases of respiratory diseases (HMPV virus) in China have increased India’s concern. India is now more alert than before on this disease (HMPV virus) which originated in China after Corona. India has asked the World Health Organization (WHO) to share timely information about the situation in China.
According to the Health Ministry, a joint monitoring group meeting was held under the chairmanship of the DG of Health Services on Saturday, in which the need to understand the latest situation in China and prepare against it was discussed. Experts from many big hospitals including the World Health Organization, Disaster Management Cell, Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme, National Center for Disease Control, Indian Council of Medical Research and AIIMS were involved in this meeting.
Experts agreed that it is not unusual for cases of the respiratory illness to rise sharply given the current flu season. The report also said that the reason for this could be influenza virus, RSV and HMPV virus, which spread rapidly in this season. The Health Ministry said that such viral infections are currently spreading all over the world including India.
The Health Ministry said that the government is monitoring the situation through all means and the World Health Organization (WHO) has been requested to share timely information on the situation in China. Like COVID-19 and other respiratory viruses, HMPV virus also spreads through sneezing, coughing, and coming close to infected people. Fever, shortness of breath, nasal congestion, cough, sore throat and headache are its common symptoms.
