New Delhi: Prime Minister Modi has said that India is reducing its dependence on foreign countries in the health sector.
The Central Government is regularly conducting webinars to get ideas and suggestions for efficient implementation of the initiatives announced in the Union Budget 2023. Accordingly, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed a webinar on Health and Medical Research held today (March 6). He then said: “We can look at the health care of the country in two ways, before the Covid shutdown and after the shutdown.
The Pradhan Mantri Jan Aarogya Yojana (Cashless Medical Insurance) scheme has enabled patients to save up to Rs 80,000 crore. Additionally, savings of up to Rs 20 thousand crore have been achieved through patients purchasing generic medicines through Jan Aushadi Kendras. Likewise, the PM Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure (PM-ABHIM) scheme aims to bring health infrastructure to the grass roots of the country.
In the last few years, 260 new medical colleges have been opened in the country. Since 2014, the number of seats for undergraduate and postgraduate medical courses has been doubled. We are focusing on developing Nursing Medical Colleges. 357 of them are to be developed near medical colleges.
Up to 10 crore patients in remote areas have benefited through e-Sanjeevini teleconsultation. New developments have been introduced in the pharmaceutical and medical device industry over the past few years. Companies have invested up to Rs. 30 thousand crores to improve its production capacity,” said the Prime Minister.
