New Delhi: Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav has urged the BJP to change the spelling of its party’s name, which says India is an English name.
In the X post he published in this regard, “Though the broad minded people consider the common language for speaking to each other as a sign of development of humanity and harmony, the narrow minded BJP and its allies want to make the language a symbol of slavery. If that is the case, the BJP will convene a special meeting of its own and form a party in the name of the party. “The word should be removed first. Party (Party) should be changed to ‘dal’ (dal) as per Indian tradition. Therefore, Bharathiya Janatha Party (BJP) should be changed to Bharathiya Janatha Dal (BJD),” he asserted.
In this regard, senior Congress leader Shashi Tharoor posted on Twitter, “They are now calling the name of the country as Bharat because they named the alliance as India. Maybe if our alliance is called Bharat, what will the BJP do?” He has questioned. Meanwhile, it is noteworthy that a top UN official has said that if India requests to change its name to Bharat, the United Nations will consider it.
