New Delhi: Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Singh Puri said yesterday: India will contribute 25 percent of global fuel demand by 2040. Similarly, a target of 20% ethanol blending in petrol will be achieved by 2025.
Ethanol blend ratio in petrol will reach 10.17% in 2022 from 1.53% in 2013-14. Therefore, the next target of the government is to increase the ethanol blend ratio in petrol to 20% by 2025 to 2030.
In 2006-07, the number of crude oil supplying countries to India was only 27. This has increased to 39 in 2021-22.
Similarly, India’s relations with countries like USA and Russia have become very strong. The government is setting up five 2G ethanol biorefineries at Panipat (Parali) in Haryana, Bathinda in Punjab, Bargarh in Odisha, Numaligarh (Bamboo) in Assam and Devangere in Karnataka.
Oil marketing companies have set a target of setting up 22,000 alternative fuel (EV charging/CNG/LPG/LNG/CPG) stations by May 2024. This is what he said.
