He played in the Indian team during 1951-62, which is hailed as the golden age of Indian football. He is also regarded as one of the best strikers in Indian football. Forward player. Played in 1956 and 1960 Olympics. He played in the Indian team that won gold in the 1962 Asian Games.
He was born on October 4, 1936 in a well-read Tamil speaking family in Secunderabad. His family migrated there from Thanjavur. He started playing football watching his elder brothers. From there, his dream journey moved to playing for the Indian team. He won the Arjuna Award in 1962. He retired in 1963 due to health problems. Scored goals for Indian team in Olympics and Asian Games.
