According to a note published by Portugal’s presidency website, the resignation of Health Minister Marta Temido was anticipated by President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa (Portugal President) for the offer to replace her. “The Prime Minister informed the President about the resignation of Health Minister Marta Temido,” it said.
The Indian woman was shifted from De Santa Maria to Sao Francisco Xavier Hospital on Tuesday due to lack of vacancies in the neonatology department. She died on Saturday while undergoing treatment there. Doctors tried hard to save her who suffered cardiorespiratory arrest.
According to Sao Francisco Xavier Hospital Centro Hospitalar Universitario Lisboa Norte (CHULN), the pregnant woman was rushed to the emergency cesarean section. She was admitted to the hospital for treatment and her condition worsened and she passed away. Deepest sympathy is expressed to her family.
On the other hand, even if Marta Temido resigns from the post of minister, she will take over the responsibilities temporarily until someone else is appointed. The Cabinet meeting to be held on September 15 will approve the appointment of the new minister.
