Indian Women Police Force camp in Sudan under the auspices of the United Nations

Abyei region is located on the border of Sudan and South Sudan. Both countries claim this area as their own. UN Due to the compromise of the council, the Abyei region is being administered as a special region. UN in that area. Peacekeeping operations are being carried out. The UN camped there. There are 315 Indian soldiers in the Peace Corps. In this context, Indian women police force has been sent for policing the Abyei Special Region of Sudan. There are 125 women in it.

UN The need for women in peacekeeping is high. Only a few countries send female soldiers to the peacekeeping force. In that way, since 1960, the UN India is sending women soldiers for peacekeeping force. In the last year 2007, India represented the UN. Women police force added to Peace Corps This is the UN’s first all-female police force.

The force carried out policing in Liberia. Since then it has worked effectively in various countries. Currently, the Indian Women Police Force has started policing in Abyei area of ​​Sudan.

UN Indian soldiers are working in various peace projects not only in Sudan but also on behalf of Peace Corps. Indian doctors and veterinarians are also working with a sense of duty. Many Indian soldiers have sacrificed their lives for world peace. Since 1948, more than 2 lakh Indian soldiers have served in the UN. Served in peacekeeping force.

Union External Affairs Minister Jaishankar posted on Twitter yesterday, “On behalf of the UN peacekeeping force, the Indian women police force has started its service in the Abyei region of Sudan from Friday. They will uphold India’s pride,” he said.
