Indra has announced its participation in the EuroDASS consortium, in alliance with the companies Leonardo, Elettronica and Hensoldt, awarded with improvements in the self-defense capabilities of the Eurofighter Typhoon, considered one of the most advanced and versatile combat aircraft in the world. Specifically, Indra’s technology will increase the aircraft’s ability to detect threats, such as missiles, as well as operate in the most complex scenarios.
Indra has ensured that this new milestone in defense matters reaffirms the company’s position to be among “the leading providers of avionics systems for the world’s most advanced multi-role fighter“Specifically, the Spanish group participates in the integration of one of the most important elements for the evolution of protection of the Eurofighter Typhoon against attacks by enemy missiles and radars.” In this way, the consortium will expand the reception band of the DASS Praetorian to increase the safety of the aircraft.
Indra sources explain, through a statement, that the new package of improvements will incorporate the DASS Praetorian self-protection system. This was revealed last weekend, within the framework of the largest military air event in the world (the Royal International Air Tattoo, RIAT), where it carried out a static demonstration of the main functions that will be added, including the expansion of band developed by Indra.
Pedro Barco: “Indra is the only company that participates in the evolution of the self-protection system and the development of the two new versions of the Eurofighter radar”
The same sources point out that this package of improvements will be proposed “to the partner countries of the Eurofighter Typhoon (Germany, Spain, Italy and the United Kingdom) and, later, they will be offered to export customers”. The development of this technology will increase the survivability of the aircraft and “lays the foundations for the integration of the defense system with the high-capacity E-Scan radar”. system includes the new ECRS Mk1 radar, developed by Hensoldt and Indra with the support of Leonardo for the Spanish and German air forces, as well as the ECRS Mk2, currently under development by Leonardo and BAE Systems with the participation of Indra for the Eurofighter Typhoons of the United Kingdom, and the ECRS MK0 with which Kuwait and Qatar operate.
The development of this technology will increase the survivability of the aircraft
Pedro Barco, Indra’s Director of Defense Platforms, recalled in a statement that “Indra is the second supplier of avionics systems for the Eurofighter Typhoon and the only company that participates in the evolution of the self-protection system and the development of the two new versions of the radar, which highlights, once again, the company’s ability to accelerate the development of the new generation of technologies that European armies are demanding“.
Likewise, the new DASS Praetorian will incorporate a new advanced digital signal processing, developed jointly with the EuroDASS partner Hensoldt, and new signal processing algorithms, in addition to seeing increased processing speed, capacity and memory, Indra explains.
