What actually happened..
As part of the Bharat Jodo Yatra, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, who is continuing his yatra in the state of Karnataka, along with Sonia Gandhi visited the Nagarahole Tiger Reserve (NTR) in Bengaluru on Wednesday (5th of this month). There, they were shocked to see the elephant elephant, which was suffering from severe injuries on its tail and trunk, and was being taken care of by its mother elephant. The scene was photographed and posted on social media. Later, Rahul wrote a letter to Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bomme on this matter.
In his letter, he complained that due to the injury, the Gunna elephant had reached the point of death. Photos of mother elephant and baby elephant are attached to the letter. The letter said that if immediate medical help is provided, there is a chance for the elephant to survive. Rahul asked Bommai to put politics aside and respond to his request immediately. Rahul appealed in the letter saying that he hopes that they will help in time to save the Gunna elephant.
Meanwhile, Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai responded to Rahul Gandhi’s letter yesterday. He said that he will talk to the higher authorities and consider what kind of treatment should be given to the elephants. To this extent, the forest officials provided treatment to the elephants.
