Bengaluru: In the IPL T20 cricket series today at 3.30 pm at the Chinnaswamy Cricket Stadium, Bengaluru, Royal Challengers Bangalore will face Rajasthan Royals. Rajasthan team is at the top of the table with 8 points from 6 matches with 4 wins and 2 losses. Bengaluru is at the 5th position with 6 points from 6 matches with 3 wins and 3 losses.
Rajasthan had lost their last match against Lucknow. Chasing down a target of 155 runs in that match, Rajasthan lost by 10 runs as the middle-order batsmen failed to perform well as Yashshwi Jaiswal and Jasbutler added 87 runs in 11.3 overs. Thus the middle-order batsmen may be extra careful in today’s game.
Sanju Samson and Shimran Hedmire scored runs but there was no consistent performance from them. The lack of performance expected from Devdath Padgal and Ryan Barak is also weak.
Experienced bowlers Trent Boult, Sandeep Sharma, Ravichandran Ashwin and Yuvendra Chahal add strength. They may try to put pressure on Du Plessis and Virat Kohli’s team, the opening players of Bengaluru team who are playing aggressively.
Du Plessis and Virat Kohli have been in excellent form this season with 4 fifties each. Along with them, Glenn Maxwell has also returned to form. If Dinesh Karthik, Mahipal Lamrore, Shabash Ahmed and Suyash Prabhudesai perform responsibly in the middle order, Rajasthan can challenge the team in every way.
Mohammad Siraj is in top form in Bengaluru’s bowling. Having taken 12 wickets in 6 games, Wayne Parnell, Harshal Patel and Hazaranga are also adding strength to his bowling. However Parnell and Harshal Patel are weak in conceding more runs. The Bengaluru team may pay serious attention to this matter.
